System Shock 2 is a game developed by Looking Glass Studios in collaboration with Irrational Games, a studio formed by former members of Looking Glass. In principle the game was going to be called Junction Point and it was being developed at the time by Warren Spector's team before his departure, they wanted to make a science fiction video game, and that was maintained, but it took a totally different course when at The project joined Irrational Games and EA as a publisher, where it said that it could be a sequel to System Shock 1.

The Dark Engine engine was used and new features were added to work in that new atmosphere. System Shock 2 focused much more on adding RPG mechanics, to make your character different from any other. The way you choose your initial stats is based on the fact that you are a soldier and you have to complete your training, so you have to decide which career you want to spend that year in, after each year of training you will be added the points corresponding to the stats related to your studies, so that in the end those decisions made change completely, or at least the beginning of your journey, being able to face things in a more combative way, hacking areas to obtain advantages, resources, and new implants or delve into the skills psychic, which will allow you to fight and interact with the environment differently [4,3].

After passing your training, the game shows you a cinematic where they tell you about the Von Braun, the new ship that can travel faster than light, and that after waking up from your cryosleep, it has been taken by Shodan and The Many, two forces fighting each other to gain control of the ship. All this happens 42 years after the first game.

Although System Shock 2 was a commercial failure, it is the game that has received the most affection from its fans being able to access the Dark Engine meant that a lot of mods and new campaigns were made for it and that even today, together with the other studio games continue to have a [9] discussion space.
